The Hubei representative office of the Hong Kong-based NGO Social Workers Across Borders recently organized a student exchange trip in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. The visit brought a group of 36 Hong Kong high school students to Hubei to visit places such as the Wuhan Children’s Hospital, the Wuhan Special Children’s Education and Training Center, the Hubei Province Museum, the Yellow Crane Tower, and Wuhan University. Through a four-day study exchange and visit, the organizers said, the Hong Kong youth learned about the mainland hospitals as well as community volunteer services. “They closely experienced the local culture, personally felt the pulse of national development, deeply understood the inseparable relationship between personal destiny and the prosperity of the country, and further enhanced their sense of identity and belonging,” according to the organizers.
