Today, the Guangxi and Shaanxi Public Security Bureau (PSB) Foreign NGO Management Offices issued registration certificates to the Guangxi Business Association of Canada and Plan International (United States), respectively.
Today, the Beijing PSB Foreign NGO Management Office met with the head of the Shin Shin Educational Foundation, which has been registered in Beijing under the Foreign NGO Law since January of this year. The PSB praised Shin Shin’s work on primary-level education in rural areas, stating that it hoped Shin Shin could assist in the development of domestic NGOs in this field.
Today, representatives from the Hubei PSB Foreign NGO Management Office visited Wuhan University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Central China Normal University, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, and Wuhan University of Science and Technology to explicate the Foreign NGO Law. The PSB also engaged professors at these in discussions about public reaction to the law as well as problems in implementation.
Today, the head of the Yunnan PSB Foreign NGO Management Office met with Fred Hollows Foundation’s program director. The PSB thanked Fred Hollows for its treatment of eye disease among the poor. Fred Hollows Foundation presented the PSB with a “thank you” banner for its service.
Yesterday, the Yunnan PSB Foreign NGO Management Office granted registration certificates to 8 foreign NGOs: Bless China International (Hong Kong), China California Heart Watch (United States), Habitat for Humanity Hong Kong, Operation Smile (United States), Oxfam (Hong Kong), The Salvation Army (Hong Kong), Sunrise Foundation Limited (Hong Kong), and Yun Cai Education and Cultural Exchange Association Limited (Hong Kong).
The Ministry of Public Security re-posted a Global Times article highlighting the foreign NGOs that had been registered in the first half of the year.
Today, the Beijing PSB Foreign NGO Management Office separately met with the Beijing Commission for Health and Family Planning, the Beijing Municipal Commission of City Management, and the Beijing Municipal of Agriculture to discuss the work and responsibilities of agencies who act as foreign NGOs’ Professional Supervisory Units.
In a WeChat post, the Ministry of Public Security released its own statistics related to the registration of representative offices and temporary activity filings this year. These are presented as pie charts, bar charts, and tables, showing representative office registration by country of origin, location of registration, date of registration, and Professional Supervisory Unit, as well as temporary activity filings by date.
Today, the Shanghai PSB Foreign NGO Management Office met with a representative from Shanghai Charity Foundation (United States), which is a part of the United Way network of charities. The PSB encouraged Shanghai Charity Foundation to establish an office in Shanghai and continue its work there.
