Opening ceremonies for the “2019 International Youth Prevention of Desertification Project” took place in Dalad banner in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region’s Erdos city. The event was co-sponsored by the Korean-Chinese Culture Youth Association (Future Forest) and the Dalad Banner Chinese Communist Youth League Committee, and was filed as a temporary activity in accordance with the law. Former U.N. Secretary-General Ban-Ki Moon, President of the Korean-Chinese Culture Youth Association Quan Bingxuan, Deputy Secretary of the Communist Youth League Beijing Committee Shen Xue, and the Secretary of Dalad banner attended the ceremony, among others.
After the ceremony finished, Korean volunteers, students, and teachers from Beijing Resources College, along with local volunteers, took part in a tree-planting activity in the Kubuqi desert. The event aimed to inspire young people to take an active role in the prevention of desertification. During the activity, Chinese and Korean youth engaged in friendly and honest exchange, forming close ties with each other.
The Gansu Public Security Bureau (PSB) Foreign NGO Management Office recently held a conference on the management of foreign NGOs. Participants included relevant state and municipal government officials, business supervisory departments, PSB provincial border entrance and exit management departments, and representatives from foreign NGOs.
During the conference, police from the management office reported on the overall situation of foreign NGO activities in Linxia, and provided a thorough explanation of the Foreign NGO law. Representatives from International Consulting and Resources Enterprise (United Kingdom) introduced the organization and its 2019 plan for activities in Linxia, and provided consultation on problems encountered during the implementation process. Participants were called upon to actively guide the lawful operations of foreign NGOs while providing convenient services.
Recently, the Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region PSB Foreign NGO Management Office met with regional Federation of Trade Unions Party committee member and head of auditing Xue Xinping, as well as with representatives from the International Relations Department and the Organization Department. Federation of Trade Unions representatives described the organization’s structure, division of responsibilities, foreign NGO work, international cooperation in recent years, and methods of foreign NGO management. Officials from the PSB discussed foreign NGO operations in Xinjiang and the unique aspects of foreign NGO activity. The PSB also provided a detailed interpretation of the Foreign NGO Law, emphasizing the relevant legal procedures for the Federation of Trade Unions to act as a Chinese Partner Unit, while also providing suggestions on its work. All participants agreed that the exchange was timely and necessary, with both sides vowing to strengthen communication and cooperation in the joint management of foreign NGOs.
