Qiong Liu is an assistant professor of history at Virginia Military Institute. She earned her B.A. and M.A. from Nanjing University and completed her Ph.D. in History from the University at Buffalo. Her research explores gendered violence and rural communities in modern China.

Prior to her role at VMI, Dr. Liu taught at the State University of New York at New Paltz and the University of Michigan. Her courses include world history, Chinese history, gender and sexuality, and the cultural history of Chinese martial arts.

Beyond academia, Dr. Liu is passionate about Mixed Martial Arts and enjoys developing her skills in trading and investing.
